Abstract:This comments present the author’s views from the cross-cultural to the transcultural approach, multidisciplinarity to transdisciplinarity. He believes : ‘The transcultural approach is not simply an academic approach, but a cultural attitude or cultural world view, holistically and systematically covering four layers: objective (transcultural value orientation), norm (reconstruction of ethical rites), practicality (governance of world society) and experience (recognition of the generativity of the only human community), thereby featuring a transdisciplinary perspective rather than cross-disciplinary or interdisciplinary ones. The transcultural approach could contribute theoretically and intellectually to cultural images of contemporary China in the world and China–Europe cultural exchanges and contribute spiritually and practically to world peace governance.’
